Unfortunately, it is common for women to miscarry. 1 in 10 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. If you have a miscarriage, it is an emotional period.
The first signs of a miscarriage may be vaginal bleeding and/or abdominal pain. It is essential to know that vaginal bleeding during pregnancy can be normal. So not everyone who has vaginal bleeding will have a miscarriage. About half of women with vaginal bleeding in the first 3 months will have a miscarriage.
Ultrasound examination shows whether the heart beats from about 7-8 weeks of pregnancy. With a beating heart, the chance of a miscarriage is minimal but not excluded. We can also reliably see an empty amniotic sac or a non-living embryo with ultrasound. Remember that an ultrasound examination does not change the outcome of the pregnancy.
You cannot prevent a miscarriage. Medicines or measures such as stopping work and/or bed rest are pointless. The cause of an early miscarriage is almost always a predisposition disorder. The fruit is not well, and nature finds a logical solution, as it were: the fruit stops growing, and the body rejects it.
A first miscarriage is no reason for further investigation. Doctors recommend further testing only after several miscarriages. Even then, for most women, it rarely provides a clear explanation for the miscarriages.
